Fall Fishing in the Poconos

I have been enjoying some nice action as September closes and October begins. Nice wild brown taken in Pocono Creek near Stroudsburg High School last night. my new "go to fly"is a large (size 10) Adams Parachute tied with a quill body. It has been my "when in doubt fly" all summer and still produces.

Almost time!

The hatches have returned to the Brodhead. Last night I visited the creek to find Hendricksons and Bluw Winged Olives out in full force. A size 18 BWO was kind enough to land on my hand and allow me to examine him for a while. Due to the mild winter it seems that all of those Quill Gordons I tied will be of no use this season. We really need to rethink this late start to the season. New York gets it right and starts two weeks earlier. Anyway, I am chomping at the bit to get my waders wet!

Spring is not far away

In the 60's today in the Poconos. I made a trip to my beloved Brodhead Creek and was pleased to see Little Black Stoneflies coming off. No fishing until April 15 but good to see some action after the flood conditions of last year. 

Also saw a mayfly from too far off to identify. Could the Quill Gordons be up already?

So, I am new to the whole blogging thing but it seems like something that might end up being fun. This blog will be devoted primarily to fly fishing and fly tying but there could also be an item or two about music, Drum and Bugle Corps, and cooking... all of which are my other passions.
